Part 1: Niche Site Update

​

For those who are new to the newsletter (welcome!), here’s a summary of this case study site:

​

• Launched February 2024
• Pinterest push starting July 2024 (15 pins per day)
• Google hockey stick starting September 2024
• 308 articles published
• Mostly human-written, some AI assistance

Here's the month-by-month:

Here’s what happened since the last update:

​

• Rejected twice by Raptive in Nov/Dec
• Accepted by Mediavine Dec 14
• RPM: $14
• January revenue: $1070.08

The $14 RPM really got me down. I was convinced it would be at least $40. Two friends in shoulder niches (who inspired this site) are doing $40+ RPMs.

​
It got me down so much that I didn’t touch the website for a few weeks.

​
Then, I swallowed my pride and remembered:

​

• For every business, you’ll hit a point where you realize things will be 10x harder than you imagined.
• This is when most people quit.
• But it’s when you absolutely should not give up.

​

I can still get it to $15,000 a month. I can still sell for $500,000. I’ll just have to work harder.

​

Part 2: Evergreen YouTube Channels Update

​

Quick reminder: I make evergreen YouTube channels based on SEO keywords. A bit like this one (it’s not mine).

​

It's very similar to running niche sites (but easier).

​
The videos are about 90% outsourced (for $3 per video) and I’m publishing about 120 videos per month at the moment.

​

What's Been Happening:
​

• Outsourcing Win: I outsourced more tasks to my VA - she now does all thumbnails and elevenlabs voice generation (as well as the video itself). It’s still costing the same ($3 per video, 30 videos per week), but now my only roles are one-click generation of AI scripts (I made a custom prompt) and the actual uploading. I should probably outsource script creation, too.
• Automation Win: I started using the ChatGPT Queue plugin to generate hundreds of one-click scripts on autopilot. Previously I had to enter each script manually and watch them generate. I also installed the Convert ChatGPT to Google Doc plugin which saves each AI script as a google doc in one click - doesn't seem like much, but these two plugins have reduced my workload significantly.
• Third Channel Monetized: I hit monetization for another channel last week, and it’s averaging about $4 per day / $120 per month from 158 videos total on the channel. Not a great ROI yet, but I still think it has room to grow.
• Gumroad Being a Pest: Gumroad (which I use to sell info products that I promote in my videos) has frozen my account because my company’s articles of incorporation don’t match my current home address. It’s ridiculous, and means I’m not generating money from my info products for the time being.
